Comprehensive Exams
Each new patient receives a comprehensive examination that assesses their overall oral health. We do an oral cancer screening, TMJ screening, and occlusion evaluation. This is followed by a comprehensive exam of each tooth and existing dental restoration. At this time, we formulate an organized treatment approach to address any issues that may need attention. Routine examinations are also performed on an annual basis to monitor oral conditions, as well as screen for new conditions that may develop. All options and financial aspects of the treatment plan are discussed but may require a separate appointment in order to research possible insurance benefits.
Oral Cancer Screenings
At each hygiene visit, we will perform an oral cancer screening to identify precancerous, abnormal, or cancerous tissues in and around the mouth. Early identification ensures the most successful treatment for oral and throat cancers. Even people who do not use tobacco products may be at risk to develop oral cancer.
Digital / Panoramic X-rays
High-resolution digital x-rays allow us to decrease radiation exposure by as much as 90%. The images are also available on-screen for our patients in the treatment rooms, allowing us to communicate with you more effectively. They are also stored safely in our computer and can be emailed to other doctors or your insurance company as needed. We can also reprint a hard copy of any x-ray that you might need.
Intra-Oral Cameras
Our intra-oral cameras help capture images of what the team at the Neff Dentistry sees in your mouth, so that we can show them to you. This is especially useful in circumstances where a tooth appears to have damage but is not yet bothering you. By showing our patients visible cracks or defects in the tooth, they can be more informed about their treatment choices. Our hygienists use these high-tech cameras at your preventive dental hygiene visits.
Dental Hygiene
Our hygienists use hand instrumentation and Piezo ultrasonic scalers to gently and efficiently remove tartar and plaque buildup from your teeth. Cleanings are recommended every 6 months as an effective way to combat and prevent gum disease. We work with you to create an individualized hygiene plan that helps you adequately clean any prosthesis or areas that are prone to developing buildup.
Periodontal Therapy
Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It affects over 70% of the entire adult population. We provide periodontal treatments and deep cleanings to help patients fight and reverse symptoms of periodontal disease. Should any areas be infected or suffer from bone loss, we can also provide Arestin treatments. Arestin is a locally-placed antibiotic paste applied under the tissue. It releases medication for up to 2 weeks in the infected pocket area.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride varnish treatments are available to patients who are in need of them. Most of the painful sensitivity in teeth can be eliminated by the sealing effects of fluoride varnish. Fluoride varnish is also an effective way to combat recurring tooth decay or protect the oral health of patients who have a high cavity risk. We perform fluoride varnish treatments on children and adults, as they are needed.
Mouth Guards
Wearing a mouth guard can successfully protect your teeth during sports events. A night guard will protect your teeth from clenching and grinding while you sleep. Custom-made appliances stay securely in place, preventing them from falling out and making them more comfortable to wear. Neff Dentistry also provides ProForm Neuromuscular Power Athletic mouth guards for high-end athletic performance.
Emergency Care
Our schedule allows us to work in emergency appointments for new or existing patients. Patients of record can also contact us after-hours if they experience a dental emergency.
